Future Events
First Aid Training
Following on from an interesting and varied talk on
motorcycling first aid given at a recent Greetham gathering, the speaker (Mark
Harris - Rubicon First Aid) has agreed to host a training day at Greetham
(Rutland) one Saturday in the near future.
The venue is of course, undercover, has a large hard standing car park...and a
bar.
It will be a day's course costing in the region of £30 - £50 including
tea/coffee/sarnies to keep you going through the day.
The more people who book...the cheaper the cost.
The date has yet to be confirmed, but an indication of intent to go is needed
so that something can be definitely planned.
Please contact Graham Parker to let him know if you are interested.

September 2008 South of France Trip
General Information
We have booked
a number of air-conditioned holiday units at a site called La Pachacaid,
which is at Royal-Canadel-Sur-Mer, on the South coast of France. As you can
hopefully see from the map, (See Pic 1) this puts it within daily striking
distance of such places as St Tropez, Nice, Cannes, Monaco and Italy (Ventimiglia,
in Italy would be around 100 miles, the Verdon Gorge about 80 miles and St
Tropez about 18 miles). |

Dates
Dates are: Arrive Wed 10th Sept, leave 16th Sept., giving six nights stay. It
was initially hoped that this event could follow on approximately three days
from 2008’s Chateau weekend in case anyone wished to do both, but Malcolm
Radford informs me that the 2008 Chateau weekend will be August 28-31, and we
cannot secure the required accommodation to fit around those dates
Getting There
Travel arrangements will be left to personal choice, as some will no doubt want
to take their time with such a trip, and some will want to blast there and back
in as short a time as possible. I have though, researched inexpensive stopover
hotels with restaurants should anyone want such information. My wife and I will
probably take three days from Calais, so if anyone wishes to tag along, let me
know.

Accommodation
The
accommodation is in mobile homes. This is a self-catering holiday but the
site has bars, clubs and restaurants for those not wanting to do much
cooking. They are 4/6 berth air-conditioned units with all mod cons, and are
very modern. Typical size is 28’ x 13’. They have one double bedroom, one
room with two singles (Adults) and one room with two bunks (slightly
smaller, suitable only for children). This smaller room would make a perfect
luggage storage area if no children are staying. All rooms share use of the
one shower/toilet area. |

Extras
We have taken certain extra options from the booking agency to make the stay
better for all concerned. These extras include bed linen hire, towels, two small
welcome packs of useful stuff, and personal/travel insurance for two weeks for
everyone in the party. Having two weeks cover will allow for outward and return
journeys. Due to policy limitations, although medical insurance is still
provided (hospital stays, repatriation etc), no personal accident cover is
provided for motorcycle related accidents. Having phoned a few insurance
companies/agents, it appears that this is a standard exclusion where bikes over
125cc are concerned.
Costs and Booking
Costs will be as follows:
£200 for the double room and £175 for the room with two singles.
A family (with up to two adults and two children) will pay £220). The family
would occupy the four single beds as they are in adjacent rooms.
Single parties will be expected to share a room, and thus share the cost, or pay
the entire (single or double) room cost themselves if they do not wish to share.
I will maintain a list of single parties (assuming there are any) to ease
sharing problems.
We have reserved nine of these units, thereby giving us a typical allocation of
18 adult bedrooms (plus children). You are advised to contact me to reserve your
room, and then get your deposit in as soon as possible.
A deposit of £50 is payable at the time of booking, and cheques (made payable to
The BMW Club) should be sent to Martin Ellis, 11 Mapplewells Road, Sutton in
Ashfield, Notts. NG17 1HZ. I can be contacted in the following ways to let you
know what is still available at the time of booking. (01623) 401405
midlandsocsec@ntlworld.com
The full balance of the holiday cost must be paid in full by May 1st 2008 or the
accommodation will be made available for hire to any other interested party.
Should you have need to cancel your booking, the deposit is non-refundable
unless we can re-hire to someone else before the final balance date. You will
not, however be responsible for the full hire cost provided you cancel before
May 1st.
